Goodbye 2015

Today we look back on the past year and forward to the new. But what are we looking at and reflecting upon? There is a scientific theory that states: Time does not exist, but rather is a measurement of motion.

Consider it... one year(time) is simply the measurement of one rotation(motion) of Earth around the sun, one day is a measurement of one earth rotation, etc.

So, if time is a measurement, what does it measure in us? In our lives? It measures our motion. It measures our achievements, failings, successes, regrets, decisions, etc.

Holding to this frame of reference, consider Newton's laws of motion.
1. An object either remains at rest or continues to move at a consistent velocity unless acted upon by an external force.
If you are the object in motion or at rest, consider the external forces that move you, stop you, inhibit you. A toxic relationship forces you into an undesired path or to a dead halt. A new job alters your motion. Any external force can do it. Be aware of everything you let inhibit or move you. Be intentional and purposeful in your motions so as to not allow unwanted motion.

2. The force exerted on an object is directly proportional to its acceleration.
You have to move to get anywhere. The force of your convictions behind your decisions (motion) directly correlates to how much you move. If you are driven and you put a lot of energy into your motions, you will move more than if you simply stick to the status quo.

3. When one body exerts a force on another body, the second body exerts an equal force in the opposite direction.
When life pushes you, you push back. We as humans don't tend to take things lying down. We push and we strive and we fight for every inch. Our motion is not always easy but it is necessary. If we stop moving, we cease to cause effective time.

This is all in theory. It is how I view my motion. Often I look back on past movement in dismay. Motion that caused me to run headlong into disaster. Other times I reflect upon my motion in joy that my decisions have propelled me to this beautiful life.

In 2016, be aware of your external forces, put force behind your motion, and push against things trying to slow you down. Be an intentional mover.
